The Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) held a compliance review session with representatives of its member associations and clubs at its headquarters in Kigali, bringing together football administrators to discuss governance requirements and the ongoing compliance process in the morning of 10th March.
The meeting aimed to guide members on aligning their organizations with Rwanda’s legal framework governing sports organizations, particularly the requirements set by the Rwanda Governance Board, as well as the federation’s statutes.
Opening the session, FERWAFA General Secretary Bonnie Mugabe emphasized the importance of strong governance structures and encouraged members to take advantage of the compliance exercise to strengthen their institutional organization.
“This process is also an opportunity for both FERWAFA and its members to strengthen our institutional records and ensure that every organization operates with strong governance structures aligned with the national legal framework and the FERWAFA Statutes,” said Mugabe.
FERWAFA also informed participants that the compliance period granted by the Rwanda Governance Board has been extended from 20 June 2026 to 18 July 2026, allowing organizations additional time to update their statutes, secure approval from their General Assemblies, and submit the required documents.
Through such initiatives, FERWAFA continues to support its members in strengthening governance standards and ensuring that football institutions in Rwanda operate in accordance with national laws and international best practices.
