Reigning champions Rayon Sports WFC have etched their name into the record books once more by clinching the Rwanda Women’s Super League title for a third consecutive season.
The Rayon Sports WFC climaxed their end of the season encounter by securing a 1-0 victory over Muhazi United WFC on Easter Sunday at Nzove grounds in an encounter which attracted FERWAFA President Fabrice Shema Ngoga.
The victory saw Rayon Sports WFC finish the season top of the standings with 57 points to be crowned champions.
Capping off the hard earned season, the club was presented with a RWSL trophy by President Shema. In his remarks, Shema said, “We remain committed to increasing investment in prize money, the league, and talent development.”
FERWAFA has increased prize money in the RWSL with champions pocketing Rwf 20m from 8m initially awarded in previous seasons.
This season has seen major improvements, not only in cash prizes extended to top six ranked teams but also rebranding of the Rwanda Women’s Super League, live broadcasting on FIFA+ for every match day, bringing the action nationwide and worldwide.
Bottom-placed sides AS Kigali WFC and Nyagatare WFC have been relegated to Rwanda Women’s Championship, highlighting the league’s growing intensity and competitiveness.
